Any state archives will be willing to develop a file for families who are
associated with that state in any way. The North Carolina Archives Research
Library will be glad to house such a collection. This will give it direct
access to familiy researchers who visit there, and also be available for
researchers who can only correspond by mail. They are also delighted to
receive copies of published family histories to place on their shelves.

Another excellent resource which you might want to share with these state
archives are photocopies of family Bible records. Just be sure to copy the
title page of the Bible which gives the publishing date of the Bible and the
publishing company. This helps to validate the time of the registering of
data into the Bible. This requires only a minimal investment in time and
money for a wealth of research data, especially if there are many who respond
to the cause. The archives are able to not only store such date, but monitor
its use so that the data is not lost or destroyed.
