Hi Again!
I apologize for accidentally sending a message coded in HTML.
I will try again, this time in plain text.
*******************************
Early in 2000, I received some communications from a reliable researcher
that included the following information:
John Charles Jay
b. 2 Dec 1838, Forsyth, GA
bur. Dogwood Cemetery, Dogwood Valley,
Catoosa, GA
m. abt 1859, GA to
Martha A. Sis Harris
b. 29 Aug 1844, Walker, GA
d. 14 Mar 1924, Ringgold, Catoosa, GA
Children:
Ruben Cicero Rube Jay
Mary Ann Jay
William H. Jay
Minnie L. Jay
John Charles Jay Jr.
James L. Jay
Amanda Pearl Jay
John C. Jay
Maude Ethel Jay
The William H. Jay above
m. 1st Edna Peters
m. 2nd Ella Peters Reed
More about this William H. Jay:
b. 11 Apr 1868, GA, d. 13 May 1950, bur
Anderson Cemetery, Ringgold, Catoosa, GA
Later that same year, I received an e-mail from another reliable researcher
who gave me the following information taken from CATOOSA COUNTY, GEORGIA
CEMETERIES AND GENEALOGY
by Catoosa County Historical Society, Inc.
Copy in Catoosa County Library-Ringgold, GA:
Jay, William H.
11 Apr 1868
13 May 1950
(son of Jasper, 09 Oct 1844 and Nancy Elizabeth Turner Jay)
Wife: JAY, Edna P.
26 Jun 1870
31 Oct 1924
(Daughter of Jos. and Barbara Peters)
Please note that the information provided by these two good researchers is
at variance regarding the parentage of William H. Jay. One says his parents
were John Charles Jay and Martha A. Sis Harris. The other says cemetery
records indicate William H. Jays parents were Jasper Jay and Nancy
Elizabeth Turner.
As I am somewhat slow in updating my records, no doubt these differences
have been reconciled by now by people who dont procrastinate as much as I
do. The correct information might even be available on some web site that I
have not studied.
Would everyone please forgive me for this late question and someone point me
in the right direction? I know it is trivia, but it has sure played havoc
with my meager attempts to maintain my records.
Thank you!
Charles W. Jay
