Below is the life of Campbell Jefferson, the most elusive man
ever known (or not known as the case may be). Please help
us find this man's ancestors and his descendents. There are so
many questions about this man.... His descendent listed at the
bottom is John Kirk Jefferson, my friend and neighbor. Thanks
for your help.

[Note: no Jefferson on tax list in 1806 for Campbell Co]

[Note: where was he between 1806 & 1826??]

[only other in C. Co. was James JEFFERSON. Records for
James?? who is he?]
1831, Lincoln Co, TN., Campbell moves w/ Elizabeth and her father,
Benjamin Oliver of Campbell County, Va., from Campbell Co.to Lincoln Co, TN
[Note: the child listed 1830 census doesn't show up again. Died? Where?
When? There is only one JEFFERSON marriage in TN
from 1838-1879): Louisa A. JEFFERSON md. Henry B. McDANIEL 4 Apr. 1855,
Lincoln Co. Marriage Records.
Did Elizabeth Oliver and Campbell Jefferson have a daughter
named Louisa Jefferson that married McDaniel?]
24 Dec. 1831, Lincoln Co, TN to?, Campbell abandoned Eliz.
[Note: where was Campbell during the times he left Elizabeth?]
1837, Lincoln Co, TN., Campbell came back asking for 2nd
June 1838, Lincoln Co, TN., left Elizabeth again.
1840, Virginia & Tennessee, No Census Records for Campbell
5 June 1841, Lincoln Co, TN., Elizabeth filed for divorce
on grounds of abandonment (granted 1842).
[Note: Elizabeth Oliver Jefferson later married a man named SMITH.]
25 Mar. 1843, Ashville, St. Clair Co, AL., Campbell Jefferson
sold Bricks for Court House, occupation: brick mason.

Civil War: There is a report that states an army soldier, Campbell
Jefferson, facilitated the sale of wheat between farmers and the army. We
have been unable to confirm he was ever in either army. There are no
records supporting this record.
1860, White Oak. TX, Precinct 2, Census, Campbell Jefferson.
1870, White Oak District, Precinct 2, Hopkins County, TX.
Census, Campbell Jefferson w/Nancy JEFFERSON
w/ children named HILL, occupation: brickmason, no property,
but Nancy had $370; reports his parents as FOREIGN BORN.
[Note: Are the Texas entries our Campbell JEFFERSON?
There does appear to only be one Campbell Jefferson found
in US between 1846-1882]
1871, New Orleans, LA, John Rufus md. Josephine ZENGLE, marriage record
reported John was b. in Ohio, son of Campbell
& Margaret JEFFERSON John's occupation was reported as a policeman New
Orleans, LA. 1870-1874)
21 Nov. 1875, St. Clair Co, AL., John Rufus md. Lidia A.
3 June 1882, Arkadelphia, Blount County, AL.,
Campbell Jefferson died/buried.

regarding family history that says:

had: Ths. Campbell Jerome JEFFERSON 25 Feb. 1883
who married Martha Pearl DEES.
T.C. & Martha had: Barney Dee JEFFERSON,
who married Margaret Elizabeth WILLIAMS.
Barney & Margaret had: James Dilliard JEFFERSON
who md. Hazel Margaret KIRKLAND.
James & Hazel had: John Kirk JEFFERSON
who married Virginia Joy GIBLIN.
John & Joy had: James Kirkland; Jason Stanley; & Jordon Dee JEFFERSON.
