OK....I've lurked long enough (say about 4 months...is this a Jenkins
quality or did it come from one of my other blood lines?)
Question: does anyone have a missing sibling named THOMAS JENKINS probably
born after 1770? He was married to Mary Miles EPPLER by 1812 and was living
in Giles County, TN. He died in 1822/3 in Lauderdale County, AL. His wife
had died the year before. I know what happened to his four orphan children:
Elizabeth Jenkins Bryant, William Jenkins, Margaret Jenkins Holloway, and
Jonothan Jenkins.
Thomas JENKINS could have had a previous wife who died, and he could have
met and married Mary Miles EPPLER in Giles County, TN, circa 1810, since her
parents and siblings were there also. In that case, he could have come into
Giles County from any direction.
Or Thomas JENKINS could have been migrating right along with the
EPPLER/APPLER family. Here is the EPPLER migration path:
Shenandoah County, VA 1760's
Rockingham County, VA
Washington County, VA
Sevier County, TN 1805
Blount County, TN (maybe)
Giles County, TN 1810
Lauderdale County, AL 1820
Carroll County, MO
Then on to Arkansas! 1840
Sounds as if they were just one step ahead of the sheriff, but they often
WERE the sheriffs! As well as the surveyors and jp's.
In case you are wondering, sons William JENKINS and Jonathan JENKINS ended
up raising their families in Texas.
Needless to say, any suggestions as to the parantage of Thomas JENKINS would
make me wildly estatic!
