Baptized July 5, 1830 by William JENKINS MA
Educated at Messrs Stott and Mayor's School at Wimbledon (S. London)
and by private tuition in classical and mathematical subjects (they all say that)
late 4th Bengal European Cavalry. in 1870 with 2nd Bengal Cavalry
Nominated 7 June 1848 for EIC Army by late Sir James Carnac Bart
(whose brother Capt. Rivet Carnac followed up the nomination) on the recommendation
of Thomas Love Peacock, Esq., who was well acquainted with the family

Present at Amorah action (charter shot under him) 5 march '58;
Sibya skirmish, 17 April 1858;
attack on Amorah 25 April 58;
defeat of the rebels at Fort Nuggar, 29 April 1958. Medal
April 1871 on leave to Europe for 20 months on medical grounds
12 December 1872 Retired Brevet Major (presumably in England)
