to Verna and Nancy,
I too am interested in the Georgia lines of Jenkins. Is there any one out
there who has a list of the early say 1800/1830 Georgia Jenkins families
or knows where they could be found?

I have looked most everywhere for traces of "my" Ella Rosa Imogine Jenkins
except Georgia where her husband was stationed for a time with the
Confederate States Navy in 1861 at Savannah.

I have some names associated with her which may just catch someones eye.

Ella Rosa Imogine Jenkins was born in La. or S.C. in about 1840, married
James Carlin in Charleston, S.C. in 1857 and went to England in 1863 never
to return to the USA. (parents unknown)

Ella named a son, born in Liverpool, England, in 1868, Charles Lace Carlin.
We have no known reason for the name Lace.
The Birth Cert is clearly Lace but there were known to be errors on the
names on some of the Certs.
for her many children and it is possible Lace should have read Lane?

We also have Richardson occuring on one Birth Cert. for Ella's maiden name
and also as a third name for her last son, Alfred Augustus Richardson
Melles Carlin born London 1880.

Milford is another name she used. This time for her son Harry Milford
Carlin born Liverpool 1869.
de Montijo or Montijo also appears as Ella's maiden name on some of the
Certs.

Her second son was named William and as her first son was named for his
father, it is possible that Ella's father was a William Jenkins?

Any takers?

regards Colin Carlin, Bath, England.
