I think you are right. I don't know if you saw my post a month ago about
sorting out the JENKINS of NC, but I came to the conclusion that there
were JENKINS in Granville, Warren, Franklin and I think Orange that
were from two different families. One is my family, the patriarch of which
is William b1675 in VA and the other is Philip JENKINS b 1683 Wm & Mary
Parish,
Charles, MD.
There is tremendous confusion of these two unrelated families because of
the common use of names like John, Thomas etc. Some errors have crept
into the record because of this problem. It is possible that Phillip (MD)
and
William (VA) are related but it will be difficult to prove.
I have run across descendants of these guys all over TN (Maury and other
counties). It is usually possible to sort out some of them. The William
group
was fond of names like Mansfield and the Phillip group uses Phillip and Joel
as markers but I have Joel's in my line also.
I would love to have a GEDCOM or any kind of computer file of the Phillip
family to help straighten out our line. I have 2000 descendants of William
which I will be happy to exchange if you like.
By the way I am starting to think that there may be some intermarriage
between
the two lines as I have some unexplained Jenkins<->Jenkins marriages,
so we may be related after all.

Lew Jenkins
