Jonas Jenkins researchers,
I am wondering if anyone has seen any documentation on Jonas JENKINS'
marriage to either of these woman? Did Jonas marry Ann WILLIAMS in Shenandoah
Co., VA? I have a date of 9 Jan 1798. Is there a record of Jonas' marriage to
Mary Brickey in Blount County? Elizabeth Brickey was Mary's daughter and died
at childbirth, I am told. Is this what other researchers have? I have Peter
as born in 1828. I have her mother, Jennie's children with Jonas as being
born 1824 (Thomas) and 1829 (Charles). Were both these woman, mother and
daughter, 'fooling around' with the same man at the same time?
Census records from 1850 Macon Co show him at age 78 born in VA with wife
Polly, 76, also born in VA, son, Charles, 22, b. Haywood Co., NC and
daughter, Mary, 17 also born in Haywood Co.
Census indexes show Jonas Jenkins in 1840 Macon Co; 1850 Macon Co; 1860
Cherokee Co; 1870 Jackson Co all in NC. I have not viewed these census
records yet, only the indexes.
