It's good to hear from you again Jeremy!
This information is very interesting and a great topic for discussion on this
list. I am personally aware of only three researchers who have gone as far to
identify Samuel Lyons and how he came to be here. There may be others, but
the ones I know of are first, Charlton Havard Lyons, his work was done in
1962, then Mary Hammond, her work was completed in about 1992 I think, and
third, Rosemary Fritz, who just this year published her work.
I am in the process of putting together a complete copy of the information
you shared with us in your post that I believe to come from Mary Hammond
along with an additional post that was originally sent to this list back in
1998 that was complied by Charlton Havard Lyons. Rosemary's work was just
recently posted to the list and can be found in the archives for those who
want to review that.
It appears to me that Mary Hammond and C.H. Lyons both have reasons to
believe that Samuel had connections to Nova Scotia, while Rosemary Fritz
doesn't make that connection, I'm wondering if somehow these different views
might eventually turn out to merge somehow? The time frames & locations are
so similar, that one might conclude that they could. It's certainly worth
looking into.
I'll be sending those posts soon so everyone can take a look at all three.
Valerie
