Another important Johnston in Scottish history was Archibald Johnston, Lord
Warriston - a leader in the struggle to maintain the Presbyterian faith
against absolute monarchy and the incursions of English ritual. Johnston
conceived and co-authored the National Covenant of 1638, which was signed by
the leading Scottish nobles in the Greyfriars Churchyard. To read more about
