Only death records I am aware of in Elk Co, KS are those of the cemeteries
which usually is just what is on the tombstone. There is no genealogical
society in Elk Co.

Subject: [KANSAS] Howard County ( Now Elk County) Death records
> I am looking for the death records from old Howard County from 1870 to
1880. My g-g-grandfather Richard Gilson, age 70, lived in Liberty Township
with his son John and John's wife Elizabeth Gilson in the 1870 KS Federal
Liberty Township census. Both Elizabeth and Richard were deceased by 1880
KS Federal Census. Could someone please steer me in the right direction
for obtaining access to these death records?

My g-grandparents married in Elk county and I have their marriage record and
thought they would like to have a copy. So far I have been unable to locate
one. If anyone knows the address of an Elk County genealogical society I
would greatly appreciate the address.
