I have just joined this List for the first time and do not know why I have not thought to join it before. I am from the Kansas City area and was born and grew up in Kansas City, MO. Later, I lived in a suburb on the KS. side when I returned as a married woman with children. My ancestors moved back and forth across the state line so I should be finding records in both states (MO. and KS.) and have found many in MO. I do not know how to find death records, such as the ones that are online in MO., or marriage records, such as the ones that are online in Jackson Co., MO., in Kansas.

I have sent for death records from the state of KS. in the past, but have been turned down because I was a cousin and not a direct relative. This makes research so hard. I think many of my relatives that were in the area from the 1880's on, lived and died in Wyandotte Co. or the other counties that are near Kansas City, MO. and I need their records. I am trying to put scattered families back together as a family unit and need information on all of the brothers and sisters, not just my direct line. Can anyone tell me a way to get these records? I also need records from other parts of Kansas for my husband's families.
