Hello Everyone,
Have found a record of great interest to my husband's family. This record is for a Christian Friedrich Wilhelm KOEHLER, who emigrated from Brandenburg, Prussia in 1863. The birthdate of this man matches 'our' Christian (22 Sep 1837). The record further states that he was born in Klinkow, Brandenburg, Prussia, which is/was in very close proximity to Melzow, Brandburg, Prussia. Melzow is listed as his Place of Origin.
If you happen to have any further information about this record or this man, please contact me. I will include some proven facts about our Christian below.
He fought in the Civil War on the side of the Union and is
listed in the 1890 Macon County, Missouri Veterans' census as Christian COLER : Pvt. Co. A, US 10th Infantry.
He married Nov 1868, in Wolcottsville, Niagara County, NY,
"Sophia" NEUMANN (The marriage record says her to be Christiane Sophia Dorothea NIEMANN.) Their marriage record is where I found the names of our Christian's parents: Christian KÖHLER & Maria BRAND.
The couple settled in Macon County, Missouri (after a possible brief stop in Iowa). They both lived the rest of their lives there in Macon County, and that is where they are buried.
