I am researching the line of Keegans directly related to me and am stuck. Mark Patrick Keegan is my father, John Joseph Keegan b. 1928 is my grandfather, John Francis Keegan b. 1904 is my great grandfather, Michael Keegan b. 1967 is my great great grandfather. Michael Keegan is where I am stuck.
In the 1900 census, Michael is listed as living with his mother Ellen and sister Mary in Philadelphia, PA. Ellen was born about 1840 in Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1865. I cannot find information on what her maiden name was or who her husband was. Additionally, Michael was about 10 years older than Mary so it is possible that there were other children born between them. Michael married Josephine Owens about 1891 and they had two children, William J. (b. 1901) and John Francis (b. 1904).
There is an 1880 Philadelphia census that lists Ellen living with a John Keegan (b. about 1832) and children Kate, William, John, Edward, Miles, and Mary E. The ages of Ellen and Mary listed in this census are consistent with their birth dates listed in the 1900 census. The only thing wrong with this connection, which is major, is that Michael is missing. He would have been about 13, which is the age that the oldest child Kate is listed as.
Does anybody have any information that may be able to lead me to figuring out the complete generation of Michael and Mary Keegan as well as who their parents may have been?
