There seems to be a lot of speculation about
German origins so I will go ahead and give
you part of my research now.-Bonnie
So that it might be clear which of the Keever lines am referring to let me
say this: The
descendants of Stephen Oliver Keever have
been meeting annual for a family reunion in
Maryville, Missouri, since 1983. Prior to that
the Keever's participated in the larger Knepper Family Reunion.
Stephen Oliver Keever (m. Anna J. Knepper)
is the son of Elias Keever and Malinda Hunt
of Huntsville, Randolph Co. Indiana. Elias
was born in 1835 in Warren County Ohio.
His parents were Stephen Keever and Mary Cramer. This Stephen was born 30
May, 1810 in Warren Co. Ohio, Married 27 Nov.
1834, Warren County, OH and died 29 Jun 1887 in Huntsville IN, and is
buried in the Huntsville Cemetery.
More later on his siblings who were:
George, m. Elizabeth J. Harris;
Elizabeth m. William Davis;
Mary T., m. E. T. Cropper;
Horace M. m. Relda J. Mills; and
Emoline.
Their parents were George S. Keever b. 20 Nov 1782 in PA and Jane Venard
(Vineyard) b. 1 Sep, 1786 in Scott Co. KY.
I will detail later the Venard family in Amwell
Twp. Washington Co. PA before KY.
This George S. Keever died 31 Jul 1864 and is buried in Stone Schoolhouse
Cemetery
in Clear Creek Township in Warren Co. OH
near town of Utica.
[The following provided by Newton A. Wilson
of St. Petersburg Fl in 1979 to Warren Co. OH Gen. Soc.) Not verified by
bje.
They were parents of:
Michael m. Henrietta Pence;
Belinda m. lst Mr. Pence
2nd Edmund Throckmorton
Eliza m. lst. Edmund Throckmorton
Stephen m. Mary Cramer
John m. Abigail Cramer
George m. Abigail Pence
Susan m. William Burnet
William
Jarvis
Jane m. William Henry
Absalom m. lst Amy Ellen Earnhart
2nd Catherine Richardson
Following results from research of bje:
1790 and 1800 census and church records place George KEBLER in Salem
Township Westmoreland Co. PA. At same time period Henry KEEBER is found in
church and census records of adjoining
township, Mt. Pleasant, also in Westmoreland. [Details will be provided to
the list as soon as time permits.]
In 1989 I travelled to German with a tour
group which included my friend Annette
Burgert who was researching her book,
"Eighteenth Century Immigrants from the
Northern Alsace to America". Included in
this book you will find information on the
family of JOHN GEORGE KLEIBER and
wife Maria Elisabetha (nee Gerwig) of
Niederbetschdorf, Alsace. Immigrating with
them to America were sons MARTIN,
GEORGE, HENRICH AND JACOB. They
arrived on the "Sally" in Philadelphia on
October 5, 1767.
The church register of Neidersbetschdorf
shows a birth date for Johann Martin as 15 August 1737. The tomstone of
Martin Keever in OH indicates he was born in 1727 and
died in 1824 at the age of 97. It is my
belief they are one and the same person.
I will post details from church, court and
land records in near future.
