I am a Kemp researcher, concentrating on the Kemps of Smith County, TN.
Here is what I have for the elder Kemps. I am solid back to Henry B.
Kemp and would like to confirm his antecedents and push the line back as
far as possible. I have considerable information on his descendants
that I would be happy to share. I knew about Moses II and added his
three siblings from your post.

Thomas Camp/Kemp (~1661 - ~1711) born in Nasing Parish, Essex, England,
married Catherine Barron (~1672 - ~1715), born in James City, VA, in
1689. She was the daughter of Andrew Barron. The are buried in King &
Queen Co., VA. Their children included:

**Thomas Camp/Kemp II (~1691 - ~1751) born in King & Queen Co., VA,
married Mary Iva Marshall (~1697 - ?), born in Westmoreland Co., VA, in
1715 in Westmoreland Co., VA. They both died in Culpepper Co., VA.
Their children included:

****Richard Kemp (~1715 - ?). married ~ 1735 -- no further information -
whose children included -- see below

******Henry Kemp (1743 - ~1819) -- see below --- only works with a
birthdate 1731/1736.

******Moses Kemp (~1749 - Aug 1802) born in Wake Co., NC and died in
Greenville Co., SC., married Susan Mary Tate, daughter of Thomas Tate.
Their children included:

++++++++Richard (~1775 - ?) born in Greenville, South Carolina
++++++++Sarah Elizabeth (Hicksey) (~1784 - ?) born in Greenville,
South Carolina
++++++++Solomon (~1787 - ?) born in Greenville, South Carolina,
married Clarissa Benson, daughter of Enoch Benson

****Thomas Camp/Kemp III (8 Feb. 1717 - ?) married Winifred Starling
(~1720 - ?) born in Accomack Co., VA. Their children included:

******John Camp (13 Oct. 1743 - ?), born in Orange Co., VA., married
Mary Tarpley (30 Oct. 1740 - ?), born in North Farnham Parish,

July 1776 - ?), born in Mecklenburg Co, VA.

Info above this point is a bit shakey, below is solid.
Having made this claim, the parentage of Hixie, below, is questionable -
could she be the Hicksey above?
And speaking of unaccountable jumps, I have a similar, remarkable jump
from Rebecca to Murphy and a smaller one from Richard to Solomon, also
unexplained.

Richard Kemp (~1715 - ?), married ~1735 is mentioned in the Johnston
Co., NC, deed books as father of Henry Kemp and Henry's wife being Dinah.

**Henry B. Kemp (1731/1736 - February 15, 1819<) married Dinah (? - ?).
He was born in Queen Annes Co., MD (?) / Orange Co., NC (?), and
migrated with his father Richard to Johnston Co., NC. After Wake County
was created from Johnston, Cumberland and Orange Counties, Henry, about
1804 - 1806, migrated from Wake Co., NC, to Wilson Co., TN, and then
later to the Defeated Creek area of Smith Co., TN. Some sources have
the migration beginning from Granville Co., NC, which was just north of
Wake Co., NC. He died in Smith Co., TN. His children were:

****Rebecca (~1755 - ~1833) was born in Caswell Co., NC and died in
Wilson Co., TN. On 20 Jun. 1781, she married Roger Reece Jr. (1751
-1798) in Wake Co., NC; they had 4 children. Roger and Sarah Reece
(Richard Kemp's wife) were likely siblings. On 4 Nov. 1799, Rebecca
married Fielding Neal in Granville Co., NC, marriage bond #5302. (This
is the same day that her brother Richard Kemp married Sarah Reece!)

****Murphy (21 Mar. 1770 - 1851/1860) was born in Granville Co., NC
and married Sarah See (22 Apr. 1775 - ?). They had four sons and five
daughters.

****Burrell P. Kemp Sr. (~1771 - 1 Sep. 1826/1827) was born in
NC/VA and married Nancy Foster/Fauster (1765/1775 - 1835) on 15 Dec.
1791, in Wake Co., NC. They had four sons and five daughters.

****Richard (1774 - 1850<) was born in NC, was literate and married
Barbara (Sarah) Reece (~1760 - ~1833) on 4 November 1799 in Granville
Co., NC, marriage bond 5303. Roger (Rebecca Kemp's husband) and Sarah
Reece were siblings.

****Solomon (1782 - 1861/1869) [1850 USC], born in Wake Co., NC,
married twice, first to Judah (Juda) Lankford (~1784 - ?), daughter of
William Lankford and Amanda Stone, on 7 Feb. 1801 in Granville Co, NC,
then to Hannah (1788 - ?) [1850 USC], also from NC. Solomon and Judah
had 4 sons and 5 daughters.

****Elizabeth (Hixie) (~1784 - ~1867), born in Wake Co., NC, married
Jeremiah Shaw (~1779 - ~1855) 22 Nov. 1804 in Wake Co., NC.

>Dear Barbara,
>My pedigree chart shows Solomon Kemp to be the son of Moses Kemp b 1748, Wake, North Carolina, d 1802 South Carolina, married to Susan Mary Tate, b 1753. They have children Moses (1774), Richard (1775), Sarah Elizabeth (or Hicksey) (1784)and Solomon (1787), all born in Greenville, South Carolina. I cannot account for the 10 year difference in age of Moses and Sarah Elizabeth. Clarissa Benson, married to Solomon Kemp is the daughter of Enoch who is the son of William Prue Benson.
