Dear Christie:
John Fox Kendrick was a brother of my 3rd greatgrandfather, William Kendrick.
They were sons of JOHN KENDRICK and MARTHA DINKINS. In a book of Will
abstracts from Mecklenburg Co NC ( from whence they came), "Will Book D.,
Mecklenburg Co. NC Will Abstracts 1791-1868 Bks.A-J;Tax Lists
1797-98,99,1806&07”, John Kendrick's will mentions the following children:
William Margaret (m. Bowden)
John F. Amy (m.Capt. Joseph Smith)
Ephraim Lucy (m. Dinkins)
Green Bennett b and d 22 May1804
Thomas Joab- b.17 Jun 1802 d. 7 Oct 1804 2yrs old
John F. is John Fox who married Elizabeth Daniel. I have a lot on this
line, but I think you and I have exchanged data in the past. If you would
like anything I have, I'd be glad to send it. This Kendrick family was a
family on the move! My 3rd ggfather, William, went West and settled in
Madison Co TN, where there are lots of KENDRICK ancestors. My grandmother
was born a KENDRICK and married a NOEL. John Fox Kendrick went to SC.
GREEN KENDRICK married ANNE LEAVENWORTH and moved to Connecticut where he was
quite a prominent businessman and politician. He was an 8 term State
Legislator, 3 Term Senator, Lt Governor(1851), Lost the vote for Governor By
1 Vote, and served as Spker Of The House(Conn.) 1854&56.

EPHRAIM Kendrick I don't know much about, except that he married 3 times:
Dorcas Dinkins, Martha Saunders and Polly Irwin.

I don't have anything on Thomas and James except dates obtained from a letter
written by Green Kendrick, a descendant through the Conn. line, to James Clay
Kendrick, another descendant, regarding the family history, written 3 Sept
1899. This same letter is the only source I have seen that mentions the 2
children that died young, Bennett and Joab.

Let me know if any of this is of help.

<< I have recently come across the following entries for Kendricks in
"Tombstone Inscriptions, Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, York
County, SC",compiled by Sarah Withers Keesee. This cemetery and church
are one mile south of Pineville, NC in Fort Mill, SC. In York Co., SC.
They all seem to come from JOHN FOX KENDRICK and ELIZABETH DANIEL. I am
still working on my Kendricks of Union Co., SC. and would like to know
if anyone can link them to this Kendrick family.
