Hi all,

Sorry for the long post, hope this is of some use.

I tried finding these 1881 figures on the net, without success. Therefore, I
have taken these figures from Thom's Commercial Directory of 1893 (which
has both 1881 and 1891 census figures). I am posting them here for anyone
doing name distribution studies etc. (cut and paste to save typing).

The abbreviations are as used in the LDS 1881 CD-ROM. There are no figures
for Isle of Man, Channel Isles or Navy. Orkney and Shetland are combined.
Monmouth is placed under England.
