Subject: Anyone with Hythe ancestors?
Date: Sat, 1 Apr 2000 20:06:16 +0100
I've been asked to do a talk for the Hythe Civic Society in January 2001 and
thought I might try something a bit different!
Over the past couple of years, I have come to know several of you with
ancestors in Hythe - mostly just ordinary people whose deeds were not
recorded in the newpapers (or the courts <grin>). Some of your e-mails sadly
were lost in the 'great crash' at Christmas.
I would like to base my talk on such Hythe families and would be most
grateful for any family anecdotes, photographs and genealogical records. I
am happy to reciprocate if I can with photos of where they lived or perhaps
some further digging in the local archives.
I have been awfully busy recently, but hope soon to be able to restart my
transcription of the St Leonard's Hythe Parish Registers, which came to a
grinding halt with pressure of work.
I also intend to include an explanation of how I have come to know you
through 'internet genealogy' and perhaps may be able to stir some enthusiasm
among the audience to trace their own ancestry.
Hope to hear from some of you (please reply off-list, so we don't clog the
airwaves). Many thanks.
