There were at least 8 Dover breweries going in 1882;

Phoenix Brewery
Castle Brewery
Archcliffe Brewery
Limekiln St. Brewery
Custom House Quay Brewery
Maxton Brewery
Wellington Brewery
Buckland Brewery

Only the records of Leney's Phoenix Brewery survive - in the County Record
Office (East Kent Archive), Whitfield, near Dover.

Where he lived might be a good indication of where he worked but I cannot see
him in the 1881 Census as a resident of Dover.
