Listers,
: I have just found my only living DURAND relative living in Dover.
I talked to him on the telephone. He is 83 years old and could not hear
me very well. Among the things he tried to tell me was this:
"Dan and Johns Grandfather(?) was released as a French Prisoner of war
from Dover Castle. His name was on the Plaque with the Bone-ship that
was in Dover museum but the plaque was destroyed by vandals so there is
no other record to confirm that he helped to make it. " ( I presume he
was imprisoned during the Napoleonic Wars.)
My question to you is; do you know anything about this bone-ship and/or
the plaque???
Thanks,
Marilyn
