My great grandfather, born in 1838 in Sandwich, Kent was also born "illegitimately"
as were 4 of his siblings. His mothers husband was not able to provide for her and
spent most of his life in the "workhouse". They were separated for 16 years before
his death. His "biological" father however, did provide for he and the rest of his
family. I have no problem with his being "illegitimate" because through no fault of
his own he was.
