Not necessarily. Don't know what dates you're looking at, but if the groom
left his place of birth he would not necessarily know whether his father was
alive or not. It's happened in my family. You have to remember that they did
not have any of our modern communications systems, they moved away to
improve there lot in life and may not have been in contact with their
families.
