Hi I'm reposting this again as I didn't see it come up on any of the recent digests. Perhaps it got lost in the recent problems :)

I am trying to find out any information about my Gt. Gt. Gt. Grandfather and family. So far I have found :

Robert HOBBES b1821/22 Bath Married 1844 to
Jane CARTLAND b1817/18
Children
Frederick John HOBBES b 1849/50 Chatham
Clara HOBBES b 1857 Chatham

In 1872 Robert is shown on Frederick's Marriage certificate as being Cashier at Sheerness Dockyard.
1881 is shown as Living at Her Majestys Dockyard Chatham, Cashier Chatham Dockyard.
Also listed in Kellys directory of Kent for 1882 as Cashier for Chatham Dockyards.

I have found Clara on the 1871 Census at Queens College Islington London.

What intrigues me is there is also a Florence HOBBES on the 1871 census also at Queens College Islington, place of birth Chatham b approx 1854.

I can find no further information out about Florence - whether of not she's sister to Clara and Frederick etc.

I would love to hear from any who is researching HOBBES in Kent.
