Bob
Thanks for the info on your self to all of us. I am sure that our paths have
crossed many time in our early days, some where on the streets of
Prestonsburg, in the halls of the old Prestonsburg High School, the class
room of Judge S (?), or Mrs. Roberts. Maybe on a dirt road going up or down a
holler.

I was in my 1st year of high school when in December 1948, I all of a sudden
became the wisest 16 year old person in all the world. It was then I sat out
to become my own person, my own boss, and left Mrs. Roberts' early class,
went to the Post Office and joined the Army. I was determined at that time to
never go in another coal mine nor to slop another pig as long as I lived.

It was long before the good times ran out and I landed in afar off place
called Korea fighting a war that I didn't start. It was soon crying time for
me, and I longed for the sound of my Daddy's voice. I longed to hear him pray
once again, and I would have traded just one day any day of the war for a
life time of sloping pigs and working in a coal mine.

Now I am in another army and I know that in heaven my Daddy smiles, for he
has the joy of know that the lord has saved his child. Mother lived long
enough to see me saved and hear me preach.

I missed out on a lot of good lessons by leaving my home so young and regret
that. I know that I can't go back and do it over. But I thank my God for a
praying Mom and Dad and the values they did teach me and I thank God for the
good memories of my child hood in Floyd County, Kentucky.

The stories from all of you will help in my healing and will bring a smile as
I read them and think of the good times. Please keep them coming. Wish I had
a pig to slop.
Clyde
