Subject: [KENTUCKY] 19c SE KY: seeking parents of Jonathan T Jones whomarried Lucinda
Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2006 16:58:03 -0700 (PDT)

Greetings,

I'm wondering if anyone else might be working on diciphering the ancestry of early SE Kentucky settler Jonathan T Jones and his wife Lucinda. Both were born in the first decade and a half of the 19th century - possibly in Virginia, but had settled on Lower Troublesome Creek in Perry County by the middle of the 1830s.

The two had children Elizabeth (who may have been born in Virginia about 1834), Andrew Borkin, Delitha, Samantha, and William; they remained in Perry County for the rest of their lives (both were dead by 1880).

Jones researcher Victor T Jones has apparently come across information (from an 1870 census; it must be the state census because the federal census suggests otherwise) suggesting that Jonathan T Jones was born in Lee County, VA, but he was unable to find any evidence of this family there. (Curiously, there was a Jonathan T Jones born in Lee County VA to Stephen Jones and Mary Parsons or Minerva Tipton at the right time, but he married a Duff and went to Missouri.)

Here is one link of possible interest:

Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.

Best regards,

Kenneth
