Richard,

Since this book is dealing with the very early history of the region, it does
not provide a lot of details about each of the families. The authors gave
small sketches of the history of many of the families anything from a very
short paragraph to a page. Of course, these sketches only cover basically the
very earliest mentions of those families or in some cases something that
might be really spectular about the family. The longer articles are on
families who may have many branches or many records etc. For example, I
found that they did a good job explaining my ancestors of the Guth surname
and the explanation of two separate families in the region of the name. One
being Lutheran and one being Reformed. The Lutherans of the name apparently
were there for a long time before the Reformed of the name came from
Switzerland to settle there. Some families like my Reebs and your Simons,
the book merely refers one to other names where they will be found to be
described due to their relationship to the subject families etc. I don't know
about the Simons, but I do know that the Reeb name is very comon in the
region and so in some respects the book is kind of misleading.

For Simon, the names of TOUSSAINT and VAUTRIN are referred to. Under the
Toussaint family the names of Anna Maria Simon is mentioned. Under Vautrin,
the name of Claude Simon from Kirrberg is mentioned. There is no indepth
genealogy given for the Simon name in this book.

John V. Reeb
