I'm always trying to find info on the possible parents of my ancestor Charles Kilgore of Greene Co TN. At this time, our best guess is that his father was Robert Kilgore Sr. of Orange Co NC. I've always wondered about the early Kilgores who were in early NC. While the groups in Orange/Caswell Co and Johnson/Wake Co weren't strictly adjacent to each other they were there in the same time period. We now know that John & Peter Kilgore of Johnson/Wake Co NC were the sons of Peter Kilgore of Lancaster/Spotsylvania Co VA. We know from his will that this Peter Kilgore had 4 children-2 sons and 2 daughters. We also know that this Peter Kilgore had a brother named John who served as executor of his estate along with his wife Mary. Other records show that John Kilgore of Lancaster Co VA also had a wife named Mary. It appears from evidence below that we know for sure that John Kilgore of Lancaster Co VA had a son named James Kilgore. The Peter Kilgore listed in 1697 appears to!
be the f/o of Peter and John Kilgore of Lancaster Co VA. What if he were also the f/o or b/o Robert Kilgore of Orange Co NC. Considering that it was the custom of families to travel to new areas together in those days-it appears reasonable that the Kilgores of Orange/Caswell Co and Johnson/Wake Co could have traveled together. Just guessing.
