My Great-great grandfather was SAMUEL JACKSON, a "merchant of
Kilkenny" - I don't know if that means the City or somewhere else in the
County.
His father's name was PETER JACKSON and his mother's SUSAN DOCKRELL
(the handwriting looks like Dockrell, but may be something similar.)
SAMUEL had siblings: Joseph, William, Anne, Benjamin, John, Samuel,
Jacob, and Bessie. Jacob married M.F. Paine and had 6 children - one of
the children was J.F. Samuel Jackson, who married a Quigley and remained
in Ireland.
SAMUEL married ELIZABETH SUTCLIFFE, born March 3, 1817, in Kilkenny.
They had three children before leaving Ireland - Susan, Elizabeth, and
Samuel Jacob Jackson [my Great Grandfather.]
Samuel and Elizabeth emigrated in 1850 and settled in Brampton,
Ontario; then in 1861 moved to Brantford, Ontario.
My Great grandfather Samuel Jacob Jackson left for Manitoba, Canada
in 1871.
