I believe I have now interpreted the entry of John Cunningham's birthplace on the 1871 census of Birkenhead, England.
I believe it is Monchoine, which appears to be an old version of Mooncoin, Kilkenny. (No idea how it is pronounced)
He was born about 1835 so what is the best way of tracing his birth? Although his son was married in a Catholic church in England I have no idea what religion he was.
I wonder if a vist to Dublin would be advantageous.
Does anyone have any advice.
Thank you
Tony
