I am looking for my great grandmother and her family, here is what we know
about them

Mother Jane Killian Father John Killian
Immigrated from Germany in 1889 with three daughters to Long Island, NY. The
Killian's owned a Tavern/ Restaurant in Long Island, NY
Children
1 Lena b abt 1872 Germany married 1st John Haig of Long Island, had 2
children John jr and Betty. John sr was a race car driver (dirt track) and
was killed, Lena married 2nd Vince Bestman also of Long Island, no children.
In 1960 Betty Killian Haig was murdered outside the Killian's tavern

2 Jo b abt 1875 Germany , never married, worked at family tavern

3 Rose b 1878 Germany married James S Shirlaw of Waverly, NY 1900 settled in
Elizabeth, New Jersey, had 5 children.
I know that Rose Killian Shirlaw's only son, John J Shirlaw was KIA on April
14,1945 in Rothenburg, Germany, and she felt betrayed by the Germans and
refused to speak German again.
All of these Killians were nationalized in 1900.
Family lore has Rose Killian marrying James Shirlaw at Ellis Island.
