Subject: [KIMMEL] another Kimmel (recipe) sighting: Mrs. John J Kimmel, Berlin PA
Date: Fri, 24 Mar 2000 13:47:50 EST
Spring 2000's issue of Berlin Historical Society's MEMOS includes some
recipes taken from the Sisterhood of Mary & Martha of the Brethren Church of
Berlin PA, but MEMOS could not ascertain the date. Recipes were included
from ladies named Cober, Deitz, Menges, Boyer, Johnson, Hoffmaster AND MRS.
JOHN J. KIMMEL,
whose recipe was for Spanish String Beans:
2 medium onions
2 tbs butter
2 cupes stewed tomatoes
2 whole cloves
2 lbs. fresh cooked string beans
1 green pepper diced
1 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
"Slice the onions, add the butter, salt, tomatoes, rgeen pepper, cloves and
sugar. Simmer 15 min. Remove cloves and add beans. Heat well and serve.
Canned beans may be used. --Mrs. John J. Kimmel."
Thought somebody might (a) be able to figure out who she was and what the
time period is and (b) claim her.
