I found your comments regarding Adm Kinkaid most interesting. There is
one item that particularaly intersts me i. e., your comment that the Adm
descended from a revolutionary war soldier. As I read a recent biography
of the Adm (Wheeler, Gerald E., "Kinkaid of the Seventh Fleet," Naval
Historical Center, Washington DC, 1995, particularly pp 1 & 2) I get the
impression that William P.'s had emigrated from Scotland c1800 and
settled in New York.
I am interested in anything regarding Kinkaids (double K) since my line
currently is untraced beyond my grandfather. Anything that helps
establish any Kinkaids in the US prior to c1850 may be helpful.
While I doubt if this has any bearing on my research, it is
interesting. If you have not read the bio., I would recommend it, it is
both a good read and profusely footnoted, which might be of equal
interest to you.
