of the first land grants issued by Virginia, to help settle the new
and somewhat wild areas." in which a "Kirkham, Samuel" is identified
as receiving 400 Acres Located on Salt River, dated 09-19-1780
(Original Source: Book A - Page 172).

Can anyone identify this man? I am wondering if he is someone I
*ought* to be researching ...
