Nancy,
I'm trying to find information on James M. Knight who lived in Newton
County, GA in 1850. He died in 1856 and this children born between 1829 and
1840 were Richard D., William T., Martha Jane, Georgia Ann, James A. J., and
George W.R.. His first wife, and the mother of all the children, was Mary
Roseberry. His second wife was Ann Fears. Most of this information was
obtained from abstracts of the wills of James M. Knight, Martha Roseberry,
and James Roseberry.
I should point out that I have seen Chris Perry's excellent web page at:
http://206.139.152.113/KnightLines/index.htm but I haven't found a
connection. I suspect there is one, but it is probably a generation or two
earlier back in North Carolina.
My great-great grandfather was William T Knight and he moved from Newton
County to Randolph County, AL around 1862. The line between me and my
great-great grandfather was fairly easy, since they all lived in Randolph or
Clay County.
Thanks,
Alan Knight
