For Melinda:
Burlington, Kansas is the County Seat of Coffee County,
Which is adjacent to Lyon County, Kansas. Many
Persons in Lyon County do business in
Burlington. So, your ancestor could be from
Lyon County, yet have conducted business in
Burlington, Kansas, as did my own ancestors.
Emporia is the County Seat of Lyon County.
The Flint Hills Historical Society in Emporia has
a very active and helpful volunteer service. There
is also a very fine Historical Society and museum
in Burlington, Kansas.
