I see that there is a Marie Stewart Hilbert buried in the Centralia
Cemetery, b 1903 d 1943. Doesn't sound like your lady, though. There are
several other Hilberts also in Nemaha County - if you want the info I have
on them, please contact me at

Subject: [KS-CEM] HILBERT's in Scotts Bluff County
Dear KS Cemetery List,
If any fellow lister has access, or knows of any Hilbert, especially first
names of Maria (nee Miller), John or Herbert, buried in Scotts Bluff Co. I
would be appreciative to know about it. My great-grandmother Vena Dora
HILBERT was born in Minatare, KS in May 1887. I have only been able to find
one listing for a cemetery in that town (I gather it might be a small
town)-East Lawn Cemetery. However, there was no phone number, street address
or PO Box to be able to send mail (let alone an e-mail address). Vena
married and went on to NE, and gave birth to her son there in 1904, and came
to Oregon before 1910, and is listed in the Oregon census here, along with
another child-a girl. The following year, my grandmother Alice was born.
Vena
remarried by the 1920 census, and only had my grandmother and her newborn
son
living with her. My only clues to her past is from the info above was
provided from her death certificate, and that of her daughters (my
grandmother) death certificate, both of whom died over 20 yrs ago.
I have written the Minatare Public Library via snail mail (again no street
address, but hopefully they will get it), in hopes that they can shed some
insight on the area and any possible resources.
I would greatly appreciate any fellow lister that might know or knew of the
Minatare area of Scotts Bluff Co., KS and the cemeteries there, or nearby
and
any input or suggestion that they might have to offer.
Thanks!
