you should order the pension records, they will have more information than the service records.
When I received my G-fathers records it had each outfit he served with, years and dates. After he died my G-mother filed for his pension, she had to give all her informatin and the childrens information so that was a pluss for me.
the cost was $37.00 and it took about a month. and yes if he had a miner child they could receive the pension and all his information will be there too
