Mr Smiley had the grocery store on the south side of the road, just to the west of the intersection with what is now Haverhill Road, which is seven miles east of Douglass.
Mr. Berg had the blacksmith shop built on the south-east corner of the section across the road. My grandfather,
Joe Sephus Tague, had the farm on that same section, and my mother Leoti May Tague (Smith) walked to school with the "little Berg girl." The store became the Smileyberg Bait Shop and was a beer joint off and on until my mother bought the property in 1980.
