Hmm.. Well I looked in the Kansas Index which list several different years.

This is what came up without using the soundex:
EMILINE* BIRLEW KS Allen County Cottage Grove Township 1870
TENNESSEE BIRLEW KS Woodson County Neosho Falls Township 1870

The below is the only other name using the soundex that comes up.
JOHN BURRILL KS Allen County No Township Listed 1860 page56

I ran another search in the 1870.. because I wasn't finding them in the
1860. Here is what came up in the index:
Charles Berlew 13 1856 Missouri White Humboldt, Allen, KS Male
Emiline Bielen 20 1849 Tennessee White Cottage Grove, Allen, KS Female
page 8

Sorry I didn't have any luck in the 1860. Maybe someone else will.
