Susie, I gave it a go but I'm not having much luck. I did find two of the
children with their grandmother [below], maybe John hadn't arrived in
Shawnee Co yet; but then I didn't see any match in Jackson Co either. Do you
know when he married Grace? The 1920 is an every-name index so whoever he
was with should be listed too. But since the first two born are with their
grandparents maybe he was going thru a divorce? Is Grace Anna's mother? she
was born in or soon after the 1920 census was taken. I couldn't find a
match for Grace SMITH b.KS c1881-85, w/parents b.KS in any state. Lots of
Grace SMITHs in KS tho.

Since his age in 1930 was 57y, I looked for those b.1873-77. In Jackson Co
there were only these:
Nettie Smith Cedar, Jackson, Kansas abt 1877 Kansas White
Bessie Smith Garfield, Jackson, Kansas abt 1876 Kansas White
Rose E Smith Franklin, Jackson, Kansas abt 1875 Kansas White
Frances M Smith Liberty, Jackson, Kansas abt 1873 Kansas White
Ollie Smith Whiting, Jackson, Kansas abt 1875 Kansas

| The three children with ? marks were in John's obituary but not sure if
