Oliver Hazzard Perry STEELE, was born near Columbus, Ohio, on the 10th day of September, 1824 and died February 19, 1910 at his home in Morrowville, Kansas.
He was married to Caroline TRENHOLM in 1856, and lived near Rochelle, Ill., till 1883, when they came to Washington County, Kan., and settled in Strawberry township, where they resided till Feb. 1909, when they moved to Morrowville.
Two sons, Josiah and Howard, one daugther, Maria, preceded him to the better land. His wife, one son, Oliver P. Steele, and six daughters, Matilda CHUBBUCK of Morrowville, Ks., Adella a. DODD, Linn, Kan., Ada MILLER, Viola, Ill., Bertha JOHNSON, Morrowville, Kan., Vashit WAYMAN, Washington, Kan., with two sisters living in Nebraska are left to mourn his loss.
He also has thirty-nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Steele was converted at the age of about forty, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church, and lived a faithful Christian life till the time of his death.
Services were conducted by Rev. M. O. Moyer in the M.E. church, at Morrowville, Kan. on Monday, Feb. 21, at 1 o'clock and the remains were laid to rest in the Morrowville cemetery.
