Emma Elizabeth COLLINS was born near Bath, Ontario, Canada, May 24th, 1843, and died at her home near Danville, Harper Co., Ks., Sept. 11th, 1915, being 72 years, 3 months and 18 days old. She was the youngest but one of nine children, 6 brothers and 3 sisters, all of whom preceded here death. She was the youngest daughter of Christopher F. and Electa Denio COLLINS. Her mother was born in Vermont and her father in Massachusetts, U.S. She was married to Ephraim CHINNERY, March 4th, 1868, moving near Cedar Falls, Blackhawk Co., Iowa, in the fall of 1873, where the family resided six years. In the fall of 1879, in company with two neighboring families the party of ten persons left Iowa by wagon Oct. 22 and landed in Harper City Nov. 23, being one month and one day on the road, soon after making their home near Danville where they have since resided. Mrs. CHINNERY was converted in 1895 and together with her husband and daughter, Mrs. M.A. DENT and son, Claude CHINNERY, was burie!
d with her Lord in Baptism and joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Jan. 11th, 1896 of which she was a consistent member until her death, which was caused by breaking the bone in her left limb, six inches above the knee, on the 14th day of February and other complications setting in. After nearly 7 months of suffering she sweetly fell asleep in Jesus to await the call of life eternal at the first resurrection. A few days before her death she called her friends to he rbedside and in a clear, strong voice, and with a sweet smile on her face, said, "I am soon going to live with Jesus, He is very precious to me; He died that I might live." Then she said, "O come to Jesus, He will save you, If you will only come to him; Tell all my friends to come to Jesus. He died for all; He will save all, if they will only come to Him, confessing their sins and pleading for pardon." A few days later she sang in a clear, strong voice, "Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus." So she died a consiste!
nt christian, a faithful wife and a loving mother, loved by all who knew her which was shown by the beautiful floral offerings, the many acts of kindnesses all through her long sickness and the great concourse of friends and acquaintances that more than filled the M.E. church and listened to the sermon preached by Elder W.L. NOTT form John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave his ony begotton son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
She was laid to rest in the Danville cemetery.
