Ellison Earle Hensley, 64, died Saturday, Dec. 16. Services will be held
at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Peace Evangelica Lutheran Church, Andover.
He was born Sept. 23, 1936 to Charles and Margaret Elizabeth Hensley in
Beatrice, Neb. On June 28, 1968, he was married to Gwendolyn P. Marquardt
and was father to five children.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1955 to 1959. On Dec. 31, 1998,
he retired as butler County Undersheriff, after having served 15 years
in law enforcement. Ten of those years he spent in the Butler County Sheriff's
Department and five as Rose Hill Chief of Police. Prior to this, he worked
22 years for the Rock Island Railroad in Kansas City and Wichita.
He enjoyed spending time with his children, children-in-law, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and his wife's family.
Survivors include: his wife, sons, Gary Hensley and Ray Hensley, of Rose
Hill; daughters, Gayla and husband Dan Bridwell of Haysville, Gina and
husband Goran Hunajk of Clemnton, N.J., and Glynee and husband Bill Bolte
of Wichita; grandchildren and spouses, Joshua and Tiffany Bridwell of Peterson
AFB, Colordado Springs, James and Jared Hensley of Rose Hill, Tanner and
Trae Hunjak of Clemnton, N.J., Tarah Baker of Clementon, N.J., and Racheal
and Mariah Bolte of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Gage and Garrett Bridwell
of Peterson AFB, Colorado Spings, and Braden Mowdy of Haysville; brothers,
Charles, Hensley of St. Louis Park, Minn., and C. H. "Chip" and wife Fran
Marquardt of Tonganoxie; a sister, Nan Pitts of Ozark, Mo.; father-in-law
C. H. Marquardt Sr. of Tonganoxie; six nieces; two nephews; and numerous
family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and
his mother-in-law.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Peace Evangelica
Lutheran Church, Andover. Vann-Gettis Funeral Services has the arrangements.
