Raymond J. Roberts, 80, of Newton, died Sunday, Feb. 18, at Newton Medical
Center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, with Rev. Charles Kaufmann officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

He was born April 18, 1920 to Edward Harrison and Lucy (Shepherd) Roberts
in Whitewater. He was a graduate of Potwin High School where he excelled
in basketball, baseball and track. He was married to Phyllis J. Paulson.
In 1985, he retired from the Mobile Home Industry. He was a member of the
Elks Lodge #706, Newton.

Survivors include: sons, Edward J. Roberts of Wichita, Richard "Rick" Roberts
of Newton and Daniel H. Roberts of New York; daughters, Kathryne J. Nichtern
of Windermere, Fla., Jane Keliher of Newton and Kim Shafer of Topeka; and
grandchildren, Jennifer Keliher, Edward Roberts and Lisa J. Roberts, of
Newton, and Elizabeth Shafer, Nathaniel Shafer and Samanatha Shafer, of
Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, J. Ward Roberts.

Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Family
will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Parkinson
Association in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, which has the arrangements.
