Can anyone tell me which newspaper(s) would most likely have carried
obituaries for Cloud County residents in the year 1897? And where can I
find copies of those newspapers? Also, does anyone know what funeral homes
were in existence in Cloud County at that time and whether they still exist?
This would help me greatly in my quest to find information about the
death of my gg-grandfather, John "Jack" GARLOW, Jr., born 8 JAN 1816 in
Monangalia Co., Virginia (now West Virginia); died 27 FEB 1897 in (probably
Cloud County), Kansas; buried in West Branch Cemetery (also known as
Cleveland & Shepherd Cemetery) located in the northeast corner of Section
15, Buffalo Township, Cloud County, Kansas; married Mary HOSTUTLER 13 SEP
1866 in Wood Co., West Virginia.
Thanks,
