Phyllis,
My Hopkins line are Rev. James Hopkins b. 27 May 1817 Jennings, IN & died 6 Mar. 1897 Winfield, Cowley, KS. He was 1st. md to Lydia Johnson of Jennings, IN and 2nd. to Julia R. Price.
His daughter, Mary E. Hopkins b. 24 Dec 1843 Jennings, IN & died 22 Mar 1922 buried in the Ft. Dodge Soldiers Home in Dodge City, KS She is my great grandmother.
The father of Rev. James is:
John Stringer, Sr. b. 4 Dec 1790 in Harrison, KY & died 22 Nov 1869 Paris Crossing, Jennings, IN. He was married to Zilpha Ann Lett.
John's father was Thomas (Conrad) Hopkins b. ca 1760 England & died bef. 1811 Harrison, KY. He was married to Rebecca Bena McKinney. This is as far as I have been able to get.
I have been told by some of my connections that we are supposed to be in the line connecting to the Mayflower.
I have even started from the top, looking for the Hopkins that were actually on the Mayflower. Giles Hopkins is buried in Barnstable, MA. I have been making copies of all of the Hopkins in that area.
Have you tried looking in www.genforum.com/hopkins or www.genforum.com/lett - lots of Hopkins in there.
Gwen
