Michael,
I did not find a John A. Day when I checked out two or three Ottawa city directories today. I did find a Clifford Day living at 811 N. Cedar a year or two before 1930. Directories from later in the 1930s listed him with a wife named Sylvia. One year he lived on Mulberry Street, and another year on King Street. Could this be part of John's family?
I also checked the 1930 Census at Ancestry, and the index did not list a John Day in Franklin County, KS. Are you absolutely sure that he lived here then?
As I did not keep our old correspondence, please forgive me if I'm asking questions that you may have answered four years ago.
Alma
