THE RESULT ELSEWHERE.

The election last Tuesday resulted in a sweeping victory for the democrats
and alliance. In the next congress they will have a majority of at least 50.
Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Nebraska elect democratic
governors, while all the states usually democratic went that way. The prohibition
amendment is defeated in Nebraska by 30,000, while the alliance carried South
Dakota.

In Kansas it will take the official count to decide whether HUMPHREY or
WILLITS is elected governor, while it is already settled that the alliance and
democrats will have enough votes in the next legislature to defeat Senator
INGALLS. The alliance has elected five of our seven congressmen, defeating
McNALL, HALLOWELL, KELLY, PHILLIPS and PERKINS. The republicans elect FUNSTON and
BRODERICK, of the 1st.

In Thomas county the alliance elected its full county ticket by the
following majorities: Representativ--VAIL (sic) over MORRISON, 86; probate
judge--HITCHCOCK over LESH, 58; county attorney--LOAR over BRANT, 85; clerk of the
court--BAUM over ROBBINS, 50; county superintendent--GRIFFITH over SULLIVAN,
127. The alliance commissioner in the 1st district is elected by about 65
majority. In Randall township the alliance elected its officers, as follows:
Trustee, D. BRUNS; treasurer, A. SIMONTON; clerk, J. BARLOW; justices, F.
HOWARD, J. A. BUCKLIN; constables, E. COLVIN, J. BIRMINGCAMP.

In Gove county the republicans elected their entire county ticket, as
follows: Representative--PURCELL over EVANS, 89; probate judge--BENSON over EGAN,
156; county attorney--TODD; clerk of the court, JONES over BOYCE, 77; county
superintendent--COLE over SPRAGUE, 131.

>From present indications OSBORN is elected Judge over RATHBONE, who was
second, by between 200 and 300 votes.

BAKER carried this and Thomas counties and McNALL carried Gove.
