Message Board Post:

Appeared in the Hill City Times on 7 June 2006:

Daisy Ann TETER WILSON was born in Denver, Colorado on November 21, 1936 to Noel and Leona (DILL) TETER and died on June 3, 2006 in Hill City, Kansas.

She grew up in Englewood but spent much of her time fishing and hunting in the Rocky Mountains with her family and dear family friend, Roy McKEE. Loveland Pass was always her favorite place. Her best friend Marlene SHAW REYNOLDS remembers Tony, as she was known during her teens, as a beautiful, vivacious girl with a wonderful laugh.

On September 15, 1956, Daisy married the love of her life, Burl “Bud” WILSON, in Raton, New Mexico. To this union four children were born. During the first year of their marriage, Daisy and Bud lived in Denver before moving to the Sheridan Lake, Colorado area where they lived until 1969. They moved to a farm near Hill City, Kansas March 1, 1969. Bud passed away January 12 1992.

Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 29, Daisy eventually became a total quadriplegic.

As a girl, Daisy always wanted to marry a farmer. She loved living on their farm and having animals, particularly horses.

To stave off MS affecting her hands, Daisy learned to knit and created beautiful sweaters for her family members.

In high school, Daisy had been very artistic, drawing and painting. Most of her subjects were horses. During the mid-1980’s, at the encouragement of a caregiver, she resumed drawing, this time holding colored pencils in her mouth. She became so accomplished, she earned a scholarship from the Association of Mouth and Foot Artists of the World.

Daisy has been reunited with her parents, husband and two granddaughters, Bonnie and Jessica WILSON.

Those remaining to celebrate Daisy's life are her children Janet and her husband Tony ORYALL of Independence, Missouri; Noela and her husband Dave CALLAN of Colorado Springs, Colorado; David and his wife Evy Faye WILSON of Hill City; and Jackie WILSON GODDARD and her husband Rick GODDARD of Lenora, Kansas; grandchildren: Mike and David HYSOM, Megan and Lauren ORYALL, Jennifer and her husband Shane SHEPHARD, Joe and his wife Jen CALLAN, Brenda and her husband John LUCERO, Tammy and her husband Chuck DUNBAR, D.J. and his wife Veronica WILSON, Burl WILSON, Zane SMITH and Lisa WILLIAMS; great grandchildren: Ryan and Carissa CALLAN, Kristen and Matthew LUCERO and Shelby WILSON; step-mother Ruth TETER of Englewood, Colorado; brothers Ed and his wife Joyce TETER of Kingman, Arizona; Matt and his wife Kathy TETER of Kiowa, Colorado; sisters Joni TETER and her husband Matt APPLEBAUM of Boulder, Colorado; Crystal and her husband Gary RESER of Denver, Colorado; and honorary family me!
